Kristen Gallagher highlights essential frameworks for making better technical hiring and onboarding decisions for rapid-growth engineering teams. If you’re fighting team fires, feeling overwhelmed or concerned you might not be making the best hiring decisions, or looking for ways to onboard better—whether you’re a manager or a team member—this course is for you.

What you'll learn, and how you can apply it

In addition to learning key frameworks for behavioral interviewing and employee-driven onboarding, learners will leave having experienced those frameworks "live" in activities. Finally, learners will build their own Scaling Support Kit to take back to work and apply in hiring and onboarding situations.

9:10-9:20am – Breaking it Down: Where things go wrong, and where they can go right, in hiring & onboarding

9:20-9:45am – Interviewing Intensive: Behavioral interview techniques to make data-driven decisions about hiring

9:45-10:30am – Workshopping the Interview (demo, role play, and activity)

Break: 10:30-11am

11:00-11:25am – Onboarding Intensive: Building the core support structures to help new hires succeed

11:25am-12:30pm – Workshopping the Plan (demo, role play, and activity)

Kristen Gallagher is an organizational strategies and learning designer with over a decade of learning and development and business partnership. She’s the founder and CEO of Edify, a consultancy that builds technical onboarding programs for high-growth teams. She has architected and delivered onboarding programs for companies adding from one person a quarter to over 100 people a quarter and from one office to more than 13 global offices. Her range of expertise in the science of adult learning, business strategy, knowledge management, and organizational development means that Kristen architects programs that are designed to evolve and scale with rapid changes. She’s on the board of Business for a Better Portland and serves as a curriculum developer and instructor for XXcelerate Fund.
