OSCON 20 years

Open source: a catalyst for innovation and transformation

It's the 20th anniversary celebration this year at OSCON, the longest running conference with open source as the central theme. OSCON is the place to get an overarching perspective on the decisions that strengthen and grow companies, a deep knowledge of key open source technology to make it happen, and access to a community that can help both you and your organization thrive.

Innovative and emerging open source projects will be at the center of OSCON 2018. Each and every track has been selected because of its open source nature and the significant change it presents to software development. We're focusing on these topics as a means to consider and solve critical, real-world problems:

  • Blockchain beyond Bitcoin
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Emerging languages such as Kotlin, Go, Elm
  • Live coding: Python, R, Java, and C# using Jupyter Notebook
  • Software methodologies, from ideation to deployment
  • Cloud strategies and implementation
  • Evolutionary architecture
  • Distributed computing, from industrial to commercial
  • Edge computing
  • Open source in enterprise case studies
  • SMACK stack: Spark, Mesos, Akka, Cassandra, and Kafka

Since 1999, the O'Reilly Open Source Convention has brought together talented people from diverse backgrounds who are doing amazing things with open source. Join us to learn more about how to build resilient projects and industries, how open source can be a strategic business advantage, and the unique strengths that open source technology has to offer.
