Free Software Foundation
The Free Software Foundation (FSF), established in 1985, is dedicated to promoting computer users' rights to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer programs. The FSF promotes the development and use of free software, particularly the GNU operating system, used widely in its GNU/Linux variant.
FreeBSD Foundation
The FreeBSD Foundation is a 501(c)(3), US based, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the FreeBSD Project and community worldwide. Funding comes from individual and corporate donations and is used to fund development projects, support infrastructure, improve test coverage, continuous integration and automation, sponsor community engagement, and advocate for the Project.
GNOME Foundation
Comprised of hundreds of volunteer developers and industry-leading companies, the <b>GNOME Foundation</b> is an organization committed to supporting the advancement of GNOME. GNOME is a free software project that provides a complete, easy to use desktop for a variety of operating systems, including GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris (tm), Operating Environment, HP-UX, Unix, BSD and Apple's Darwin. More than 700 computer developers, including over 100 full-time, paid developers, contribute their time and effort to the project.
The Mifos Initiative
The Mifos Initiative is a 501(c)3 non-profit that guides the development of the Mifos X solution for financial inclusion, an API-driven open source platform with a suite of configurable cloud apps. Our community speeds the elimination of poverty by scaling financial services to the world's 3 billion poor & underbanked.
OASIS Open
OASIS is a nonprofit consortium that advances open standards and open source development. It offers standards and open source projects a path to recognition in international policy and procurement. Any initiative for developing code, APIs, specifications, or reference implementations can find a home at OASIS. Each project operates independently under industry-approved process and IPR policies. Some of the most widely adopted standards are developed at OASIS including: KMIP, STIX, TAXII, OpenC2, and SAML. Many of these have gone on to be published as ISO, IEC, or ITU standards. New work is encouraged, and all are welcome to participate.
Open Source Initiative
The Open Source Initiative works to raise awareness and adoption of open source software, and build bridges between communities. The OSI champions software freedom in society through education, collaboration, and infrastructure, stewarding the Open Source Definition, and preventing abuse of the ideals and ethos inherent to the open source movement.

The Personal Telco Project
The Personal Telco Project is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and build public wireless networks through community support and education. We maintain a large number of public nodes in the Portland area, including several outdoor mesh networks.

Portland Linux/Unix Group
The Portland Linux/Unix Group, also know as PLUG, is the oldest and largest Open Source Group in Oregon. PLUG's goal is to provide educational, social, and career opportunities to the Open Source community in Oregon and Southwest Washington. PLUG meets several times a month, has excellent speakers, and beer after our meetings. PLUG also has a vibrant on-line community. And finally, PLUG makes an effort to work with and promote more specialized Open Source organizations in the area.

Python Software Foundation
The mission of the Python Software Foundation is to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language, and to support and facilitate the growth of a diverse and international community of Python programmers. The PSF is a non-profit membership organization devoted to advancing open source technology related to the Python programming language. It qualifies under the US Internal Revenue Code as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) scientific and educational public charity and conducts its business according to the rules for such organizations.
Software Freedom Conservancy
Software Freedom Conservancy is a nonprofit charity that promotes and improves free and open source software projects. Conservancy is home to over 40 projects, including Git, Samba, Inkscape, phpMyAdmin, Racket and Selenium (to name a few). We are the home of Outreachy, a diversity program that provides opportunities to people who are underrepresented in free and open source software. Conservancy also improves software freedom generally by working on nonprofit accounting software and license compliance.

USENIX is a technical membership association dedicated to fostering diversity and the next generation of researchers. We organize vendor-neutral conferences which are the essential meeting grounds for discussion of the most advanced research in all aspects of systems computing, security, and operations engineering (including LISA and SREcon).
