Many of the characteristics that make MySQL so successful also apply to GlassFish and NetBeans.

GlassFish is an open source, production-quality and Java EE 5 compliant application server with full enterprise support from Sun Microsystems. NetBeans is an open-source IDE that allows to create professional desktop, enterprise, web, and mobile applications with the Java language, C/C++, Ruby, PHP and JavaScript.

Both GlassFish and NetBeans are supported by a large and vibrant community. Ease-of-use is an important aspect during installation, development and deployment phases with these tools. The supported feature set provides the technical richness required to provide real-life solutions.

This talk will demonstrate how MySQL, GlassFish, and NetBeans can be used together to create quick and powerful web applications. It shows how a MySQL table can be easily exposed as RESTful Web services. The talk explains how a JDBC connection pool to MySQL database can be easily configured using GlassFish Admin Console and then utilized in a web application. It demonstrates how standard Java Persistence API classes from a MySQL database table can be used to create secure, reliable, transactional and .NET-interoperable Web services. It provides a glimpse of complete Rails development/deployment model and how it is integrated with MySQL. Finally it shares tips to boost web application development when using MySQL, GlassFish and NetBeans together.
