Partitioning Under the Hood

Average rating: ***..
(3.75, 4 ratings)

We will dive into the implementation and implications of MySQL 5.1 new feature Partitioning. Not primary answer the question how to use partitioning, but instead we explain why it is good to use, and why it is bad in some configurations. We will explain the current locking issues and how and when it affects the performance, and what we are doing to remove it.

We will present the new partitioning type ‘Column list’ and its uses.

We will also go through what we are currently working with and what is in the partitioning pipe, including parallelism in partitioning.
