Trigger Happy: Getting Around MySQL Limitations

Security and Database Administration
Location: Ballroom C Level: Intermediate

We’ll be looking at a few concrete examples of how to use a combination of triggers and small tables
and views in order to simulate features not currently available in MySQL 5.1.

This will include a a walk through of how to implement the following:

  1. Foreign keys on partitioned tables
  2. Unique indexes on partitioned tables with columns not contained in the partition key
  3. Conditional unique constraints
  4. How to to spread innodb tables and partitions across separate file systems / locations

We’ll also look at a few benchmarks of how they perform, a look at the one’s we’re currently
using in production.
