The NDB Engine for Memcached

The NDB Engine for Memcache is a new approach to integrating MySQL Cluster with memcached. It allows memcached 1.6 to be used as a caching interface to MySQL Cluster, with a variety of possible cache behaviors. Or it can be configured so that NDB simply serves as a reliable persistent backend for memcache, making MySQL Cluster’s fault tolerance and geographic replication available to memcached. All of this can be specified on a per-key basis using memcache key prefixes, and several memcached servers can connect to multiple MySQL Clusters and serve different roles, all based on one centralized configuration.

The MySQL Cluster team will present the NDB Engine and its design features, provide an overview of the available cache policies and configuration options, and present some results from performance tests.
