Drizzle started life as a fork of MySQL which is optimised for web and cloud usage. Two years is a long time and there have been many changes which have meant it has deviated from MySQL in many ways. This talk will help any new user with a little MySQL experience get to grips with Drizzle from both a DBA and application developer prospective.

The talk will cover how to download, configure and install Drizzle using both the source and available binaries. Then go on to cover basic usage of the client applications and connectors.

Drizzle also has a several schema and query differences to MySQL, for example there are no stored procedures and some of the data types are different, so this talk will cover these with examples.

Finally it will cover slightly more advanced topics such as the new engines in Drizzle and how to use Drizzle’s implementation of replication.
