Agile BI – Collapsing BI from Months to Minutes

Products and Services
Location: Ballroom H Level: Novice

Einstein was wrong. You can make time stand still or at least make it appear to when building your next BI application. With the release of Pentaho Data Integration 4.0 (based on Kettle), the industry’s first integrated ETL, data modeling and visualization development environment, you can bring technical and business users together in real-time to create BI applications in minutes. Users can source, transform, automatically model data and instantly see how that data will look in a report or dashboard, all within a single development application.

The classic waterfall model employed by traditional BI vendors involves many sequential steps and players starting with requirements gathering and ending with business users viewing of the end result. Even today, typical BI projects take months or years and often fail to meet end user expectations in the first version. These shortcomings typically drive many additional meetings and development cycles before end users finally get what they need.

This session will detail how Pentaho Data Integration drives Agile BI development and makes all of this possible including a demonstration of building an actual BI application.
