Who is this presentation for?

  • Scientists, engineers, and anyone else with technical computing needs

Prerequisite knowledge

  • A working knowledge of a higher-level language (Python, R, etc.)
  • No experience with Julia required

Materials or downloads needed in advance

  • A WiFi-enabled laptop (The course will use Jupyter notebooks hosted on JuliaBox.)

What you'll learn

  • Explore Julia, a performant alternative to other higher-level languages
  • Get started with general-purpose programming in Julia
  • Learn how to use Julia to do linear algebra and work with datasets

Jane Herriman uses Jupyter notebooks to show you why Julia is special, demonstrate how easy it is to learn, and get you writing your first Julia programs. You’ll begin with an overview of Julia’s syntax before exploring Julia’s speed, power, and genericity as well as packages like PyCall and RCall that allow Julia to interface with other higher-level languages. You’ll leave ready to integrate Julia code into your existing workflows.

Hi Ryan! Yes, you should be able to log in. I’ve seen that error before, though I’m not sure what causes it to show up. Normally if you restart the browser and try again, it will work on the second shot. Sorry about that!

Should I be able to log into the JuliaBox link now (Aug 21)? After I log in with LinkedIn I receive a “request to the redirect_uri_path but there’s no session state found”. Just want to make sure that my company’s internet policies aren’t getting in the way. :)
