Vice President for Corporate Strategies: Greenberg Quinlan Rosner

Bryan Kirschner is Vice President for Corporate Strategies at Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. He leads the expanding world-wide corporate strategy consulting practice, helping leading companies master non-market forces and gain a competitive edge, increase profitability, strengthen their reputations, improve their positioning, navigate political and social trends, and respond quickly and effectively to crises.
Kirschner brings a passion for finding new ways forward for clients by combining qualitative and quantitative market research with keen insight into the operational implications for business units, companies, and public agencies.

He is a ten-year veteran of Microsoft Corporation, most recently as the company’s first Director of Open Source strategy. In this role he drove development of the first company-wide positioning on open source software, including alignment across senior executive communications and significant product group strategy commitments. Industry observers such as Enterprise Software Analyst Matthew Aslett of the 451 Group have described results of this work as “a fundamental shift in the rules of engagement” that “proves…that the war between proprietary and open source is over.”

Earlier in his career at Microsoft, he served as Strategy Business Manager in the product support division, leading multi-disciplinary efforts to redefine the company’s approach to online and in-product automated support. A recognized leader in synthesizing primary research and business-case analysis into effective strategic positioning, in 2008 he was recognized as one of the Top Twenty Storytellers at Microsoft.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Kirschner worked in public policy analysis and management, developing deep expertise in the implementation of community-oriented policing. In 1994 he developed and taught a seminar at Yale University bridging the theory of community policing to its practical implications for management, personnel selection, and performance metrics in urban and suburban departments.

Kirschner holds a BA in Philosophy from Yale University.
