One aspect that makes JavaScript easy is the fact that memory management is mostly taken care of by the JavaScript engine. While this is convenient to begin with, the garbage collection starts to have a cost in long-running applications or application that need excellent responsiveness like games.
In this talk, I’ll cover the basics of memory management, garbage collection algorithms and optimizations that JavaScript engines use to make garbage collection as discrete as possible.

When David Bruant doesn’t learn from reading online and watching talk videos, he contributes to the JavaScript section of MDN (and has acquired quite a collection of Mozilla t-shirts as a consequence). In the hope to make things better for JS developers, he spends time in standards mailing-lists.
