While jQuery Mobile includes a lot of great features for targeting the mobile-web, making it feel like a native application can take a bit of work. Modifying the user interface so that it behaves in the correct way on Android and iOS while maintaining consistency with how the UIs of those devices flow is critical but takes some thought. PhoneGap provides a way to build cross-platform mobile apps with JavaScript and by combining PhoneGap and jQuery Mobile you can use nothing but HTML/JavaScript/CSS to create native-looking mobile applications.

This session will cover tips on how to customize the look and feel of jQuery Mobile across devices, how to tie into PhoneGap’s native APIs to provide all the native functionality you need, and ways to make sure that your application, while running on the major platforms you target, can still provide your users with a UI that they expect on their devices.
