Prerequisite knowledge

Participants need a basic knowledge of JavaScript and browser developer tools like Elements, Sources, and Console.

Have you ever wondered how Chrome Developer Tools work? The secret is that DevTools are actually web applications, and we can inspect them the same way we inspect any application. Jason Laster demystifies Chrome DevTools and empowers you to improve them yourself. Jason will cover Chrome DevTools’ frontend, the Chrome DevTools API—which talks to the browser—and the Chrome DevTools open source contribution guidelines. By the end of the talk, you’ll be ready to run Chrome DevTools locally and make your first contribution to the project. Equally importantly, you’ll have plenty of stories that will impress your geeky colleagues.
