NGINX is a high-performance web server, load balancer, and caching solution. NGINX monitoring is essential for any deployment. Nick Shadrin outlines the major available tools and monitoring concepts for NGINX deployments.
In a talk designed for DevOps, NGINX, network, and system administrators, Nick first explains logging and explores the internal tools that NGINX provides for recording logs and logging customization. He will discuss how to use custom variables and scripts in NGINX logs, syslog, and the use of external tools for collecting the logs.
Nick then focuses on metrics and statistics. NGINX provides stub_status functionality that allows users to use it together with well-known monitoring solutions like New Relic, Datadog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, and others. NGINX Plus also allows users to extend simple statistics with detailed application data.
The final part of the presentation is confidential for now but will be announced before Fluent 2016. Nick will address new monitoring and large configuration management tools provided by NGINX.
