Kord Campbell is a technology focused entrepreneur and errant futurist. He is the founder of Utter.io, an Open Source project which strives to implement a globally federated cloud using OpenStack and Bitcoin technologies. Kord codes on Utter.io out of his home in Moraga, CA.
Kord has been doing infrastructure for nearly two decades. During that time, he has started and run a variety of companies including one that peddled Internet access, one that crawled the web using other people’s computers, one that provided photo sharing before social sharing became a ‘thing’, and one that stores server logs as a service, which sounds rather boring because it is. Kord also worked at Splunk as the Chief Evangelist, until he realized logging wasn’t a religion.
Kord and his family were featured in the article Hooked on Gadgets, and Paying a Mental Price, which ran worldwide on the front page of the New York Times and the Herald Tribune in 2010. He’s been mostly unsuccessful in disconnecting himself from the Internet since.
