While Android offers the openness and flexibility developers crave, implementing a beautifully polished user experience remains a challenge. Kinoma is an alternate application framework now available for Android that aims to bring more attractive, more functional applications to Android by making it easier for web designers and casual programmers to build applications—applications that often out-perform Android native applications. Built on an open source NDK-based virtual machine, Kinoma makes applications social by letting them easily work together and communicate with other devices. In this session, Peter Hoddie, vice president of the Kinoma platform at Marvell, will introduce Kinoma and discuss the challenges that had to be overcome to bring a high performance, alternate application framework to Android.
