The Global side of Android: Lessons Learned while pushing Android in Russia, China, the U.S. and Latin America

All of us in the Android space are new, even the longest established carriers and manufacturers are “new at android”, let alone startups as well as soon-to-exist startups (including the Angels or VCs who will fund them), as are the geeks, the developers and the business leaders and marketers. And for each and all of these new players to really make Android successful, there needs to be a global vision for the platform. Our war stories of international market expansion at AppsGeyser are a very humble perspective from a small but very fast-growing startup. The testimony comes from the two sleep-deprived individuals who were dealt with managing this growth in several markets simultaneously (and how they handled, or more often than not, did not handle them). We really want to differentiate our presentation from the typical advice you hear on these international topics at conferences. We want to clearly spell out, ahead of time, for anyone seeking to make something with Android in the World, what they will anyways learn by force. If we can, we prefer to avoid them the cost of that learning curve. Contrary to what most people think, that they think they know a lot about these things already, they really are not aware of dealing with the nuances of international markets (especially in such a new thing as Android is). We will aim to provide many examples of our own cases so that the audience really takes actionable ideas from it and they can help to better promote and market Android globally.

Estuardo Robles is specialized in marketing and international expansion of technnology companies. His role supports AppsGeyser’s continued growth and leadership in the app generator category. Within the mobile space he he’s also led the expansion efforts of SMSRGENCY, an SMS-based emergency relay which has won international recognition by the UN-GAID. Robles is also a frequent speaker and advisor on topics of economic development.

He earned his BBA in Marketing at the University of Texas at Austin y an MBA from the Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile. He’s been a professor at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Vasily Salomatov


Vasily Salomatov is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of AppsGeyser, the fastest-growing app generating platform, which since launch in February 2011 has seen more than 22,000 apps created and over 1 million downloads. Prior to this, he bootstrapped Besttoolbars, which he grew to more than 7,000 customers, including 100 fortune 500 companies. Throughout the years he has also been known for successful product launches such as and, as well as his two service-based ventures, Softomate consulting and even a disco light + audio equipment rental company he started when he was 16.

Salomatov has been an invited speaker and panelist on topics such as the mobile economy, the future of apps, tablet adoption in the enterprise, among others. He earned his PhD in Computer Science at Novosibirsk State University, where he also obtained his B.S. in Mathematics. He is fluent in English, Russian, and is slowly progressing from a beginner to an intermediate Mandarin speaker.
