Chaos engineering is fast becoming a contemporary zeitgeist of SRE and DevOps. While this trend has positive implications for these fields specifically, chaos engineering has more to offer the industry as a whole.
Patrick Higgins’s goal is to showcase alternative applications of chaos engineering as a discipline and describe how chaos engineering can be applied as a broader practical imperative. You’ll learn how optimism bias negatively affects the creation of product—from specifications to technical implementation details and resource management. Additionally, you’ll understand how you can apply the lessons of progressive enhancement in the browser to the complexity of distributed systems today. Rather than merely presenting challenges, Patrick offers applied solutions.
Patrick Higgins is a UI developer at Gremlin, where he helps developers unleash the power of controlled chaos. He’s passionate about finding effective ways to make UIs resilient to failure. He fills his weekends with playing soccer and music, reading, and assisting with civic causes that he cares about.
