Workshops
At O'Reilly we celebrate the knowledge of innovators and bring their skills and experience to the emerging wave of developers and business community leaders. Emerging Telephony will offer a range of hands-on tutorial workshops. Attendees will take away useable knowledge and working prototypes. Information relayed via practical workshops will allow you to participate in the creation of working applications. As the adage goes, “I see and I know, I do and I understand.”
We have sessions for all levels of developers and project individuals, and a range of topics to satisfy most requirements. There will be twelve 90-minute workshops on Tuesday January 24. Use them to get a grip on the underlying technology, or race ahead of the pack with more advanced topics.

Workshops include:
VXML 101 - Interactive voice applications from your website.
Asterisk On Rails—Use the power of Ruby on rails to create advanced data binded voice applications and complex PBX functionality very quickly.
Skype and VXML—hands on workshop and advanced topics for developers with the creators and practitioners.
Asterisk Exposed—secrets, operational strategies and insights from the core frontline developers.
A Sip of SipX and reSIProcate— Install, configure and strategies for SIP-only PBX software.
The Hardware Store —selecting and deploying the right hardware requirements for soft PBX.
Asterisk 101—the simplest way to get Asterisk running and working for you.
Hotrod Mods —convert your commodity Linux-based router (WRT54G) to a wireless telecom command center.
Speech processing and Text-to-speech — Bring speech applications to life and learn how to take the “robot” out of your test-to-speech ‘bot.”
In addition to structured workshops, all attendees are welcome at the Hacker Café. At the café you will meet the frontline application Alpha geeks and see one-on-one demonstrations of their work. If you have created (or are creating) something, here's a chance to meet people who would be valuable to brainstorm your ideas with, and perhaps find your first customers.
The Café is a relaxed environment in which impromptu “birds of a feather” (BOF) sessions can thrive. Wireless networks and the relaxed company of your peers can foster a powerful mixture of ideas and people.
