Making Open Work
May 8–9, 2017: Training & Tutorials
May 10–11, 2017: Conference
Austin, TX

The original (also the biggest, baddest & broadest) open source gathering comes to Austin.

The call for speakers is open for OSCON, the open source community's annual gathering and YOU are invited.

Since 1999, OSCON has brought together talented people from diverse backgrounds who are doing amazing things with open source.

We're looking for speakers to share new techniques and approaches, proven best practices, and exceptional technical skills for OSCON 2017. No matter what your speaking experience level, if you have useful stories, fascinating information, hard-won experience, and intriguing projects or innovations to unveil, we want to hear from you.

If you love open source and you want to help build the community, we want YOU to submit a talk and join us at OSCON 2017. Help us show attendees how they can go from consumers to contributors of open source projects, how open source can be a strategic business advantage, and the unique strengths that open source technology has to offer.

Open source is now found everywhere—from the bottom of the programming stack to the very top—so we're focusing on these topics as a means to consider and solve critical, real-world problems:

  • Open Source: From Consumer to Contributor
  • The Business of Open Source: From Project to Product
  • Infrastructure
  • In Real Life (IRL)
  • Adopt This Now
  • Security
  • Performance
  • Collaboration and Community
  • Leadership
  • Architecture
  • The Cutting Edge
  • Data, Big and Small
  • From Crumbling to Smart Cities

See our call for speakers for more details on the topics we're interested in and tips for creating a great proposal.

Important dates

  • Call for Participation closes: October 25, 2016
