With a booming economy, growing ranks of programmers, and the prospects of the upcoming 2008 Olympic games, China is moving at a pace to take the lead in deployment of location-based services in the Internet, wireless, and enterprise markets. But getting there will not be simple. Getting solutions to market will require negotiation of a number of issues that dont just transfer from the North American model.
Map data is an evolving story with government restrictions on ownership and distribution, map styles and routing use different parameters, and business requires close local partnerships. deCarta will share some of the insights they have developed in approaching this market.
