It's all about convergence. Dual mode phones, GPS with MP3 players, cell phones, and mobile video. When it comes to location and LBS, convergence means that the guy that matters -- the end-user -- can finally get good, accurate, reliable, and timely location. And all because convergence of technologies, use cases, and applications on devices are all driving multimode location positioning that is smart enough to know the user's environment, the use case, and the device in a way means that you no longer have to hang your GPS-enabled phone out the window to get a fix.
Sub-second time-to-fix and consistent 20 meter accuracy -- no matter whether you are in a wheat field or in the wheat bread aisle at the grocery store -- mean that the performance will finally live up to the hype. End-user demand and pent-up developers and service provider supply will bust out with very cool apps that will be adopted, finally, on a mass basis.
