There is a wealth of geo-located information being created both by large corporations and small community efforts. This is an exciting trend, but what good is geo-located information when the place you are reading about and want to go are no where near your PC?!
Dash Navigation will release devices in 2007 that use the Internet and two-way connectivity to bring timely and relevant information to your car. For the first time, developers can finally get their geo-located data off the PC and into their customers' lives.
Imagine having movie times, great places to eat, the dog parks of San Francisco, apartments for rent near you, and other personally relevant information available in your car. That is the power of using GeoRSS and other open APIs to expose your geo-located information to the next generation of mobile devices.
During this presentation, we will demonstrate the potential of geo-located information displayed on a device in your car to fundamentally change how developers and content creators liberate and monetize their content. Live demos of GeoRSS feeds being dynamically updated and visually displayed in the car will re-inforce the customer value of freeing geo-located information from the confines of the PC.
We'd also like to push the developers and content creators attending the conference to think to the future of geo-located information, including open standard APIs that allow mobile users not only to subscribe to geo-located data, but modify it on the fly in the real world. Privacy and monetization are two other topics of great import to explore.
