| Sean Egan Sean Egan has been developing communications software since 2000 when, as a college freshman, he started working on Gaim, a popular open-source instant messaging client. Today, he leads Gaim development, managing a team of hundreds of contributors from around the world and has even written a book on the topic titled Open Source Messaging Application: Building and Extending Gaim (Apress LP). Egan continues to persue interoperability in communications at Google Inc., where he works as a software engineer on the Google Talk team, whose goal is to bring openness to real-time communications by embracing standards. Specifically, Egan works on making it easy for XMPP clients to interoperate through the release of libjingle, an open-souce implementation of Jingle and Jingle-Audio, the protocols Google Talk uses to initiate and maintain voice conversations. |
