| Peter Ashley PayPal, an eBay Company Peter Ashley is Director of the PayPal Merchant Services division of eBay, which is responsible for extending the PayPal transaction platform beyond the eBay marketplace. Currently, he is responsible for building PayPals New Media and Micropayments business, aimed at addressing unmet merchant needs for a fast, safe and easy way to conduct low value online transactions. While at PayPal, Peter has led several business development initiatives which defined new revenue channels for PayPal and eBay. He negotiated and closed the first ever shipping aggregation deal with UPS, which provided the foundation for eBays Shipping Center. He also closed the first partnership deal that integrated PayPal into a Payment Gateway, now an integral part of PayPals sales distribution channel. Peter launched PayPals Large Merchant Services (LMS) business through deals with Overstock.com (OSTK) and TigerDirect (SYX), the first billion dollar retailers to integrate PayPal as a payment option in their online stores. He was also responsible for the Apple iTunes relationship, where PayPal is a payment option for music purchases in the iTunes Music Store. Ashley is a visible member of the digital entertainment and media community. He has been quoted in dozens of media outlets including American Banker. He presents his thinking on digital media opportunities at conferences including the Portable Media Expo and he is a member of the selection committee for the OnHollywood 100, where hes helping to identify and recognize the top private companies that are revolutionizing media in the digital era. Prior to PayPal, Peter served as vice president of business development for Audible Magic. Ashley helped define the distribution strategy for the company's patented audio fingerprinting technology and opened relationships with Royalty Monitoring Societies and high profile companies addressing digital content and copyright issues for the music industry. Peter received his MBA in 1995 from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Philosophy and Economics from Tufts University in 1989. He lives in Menlo Park, Calif., with his wife and two daughters. |
